Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Astrology Synastry: Why This Relationship Wasn’t Going to Work

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck dated over 20 years ago and they were engaged until Ben left her at the altar and married Jennifer Garner shortly thereafter, which would usually make the jilted lover bitter towards their ex, but not in JLo’s case primarily because of Neptune.

Jennifer pined after Ben for decades, idealizing him as the “one who got away.” This wishful thinking and one-sided fantasizing is usually indicative of a dissonant Neptune aspect to one of the personal planets or the angles. In Jennifer’s case her Neptune in Scorpio is making a tight square aspect to Ben’s Sun in Leo (within a 3 deg orb). She may literally see him as her dream partner. As I’ve mentioned before, Neptune aspects in relationships are very challenging to navigate because it’s hard for either partner to see things as they are, there’s usually a lot of self-sacrifice, idealization, addictions, and wishful thinking in these types of relationships.

However, as you guys have heard me say before, Neptune can be as malefic as Saturn and Mars because Neptune warps your perception of reality, you see what you want to see and you hear what you want to hear regardless of what is obvious to everyone else. So why did I expect JLo and Ben Affleck to break up? There are three main culprits here, Neptune, Uranus and Mars

Transiting Saturn in Pisces is making a square aspect JLO Venus/Mars and Pluto

• Next, Uranus is the planet of novelty, unexpected and rapid changes, unconventional attitudes and behaviors, freedom, independence, rebellion, eccentricity, and genius. Uranian energy crackles with electricity and excitement which can feel like inspiration or irritation.
• Uranus is currently in the final decan of Taurus, both JLO and Ben have the Sun in Leo, so their lives are being destabilized by the influence of this transit. Uranus square the Sun creates a restless spirit that wants to take risks and live life to the fullest regardless of the consequences. The problem is, the spark of inspiration, motivation and passion fizzles out quickly, and you’re left to pick up the pieces of what was left behind or destroyed in your pursuit of freedom and individuality.
• For JLo Uranus is in conjunction with her natal Saturn, the old ways of doing things won’t work, her stability and finances are being affected by unexpected situations or impulsive decisions.

Neptune in Pisces: 2011-2025

Neptune in Pisces square JLo Venus/Mars/Pluto: overwhelming fantasies about sex/love/romance cause painful transformations and re-evaluation of value and belief systems; feeling helpless or powerless against the forces of the universe; transformation is excruciating and expensive.

Pluto in Aquarius: 2024-2044

Pluto enters Aquarius opposing Ben and JLo Sun – Pluto opposite the Sun forces natives to face their deepest fears about control, betrayal, and metamorphosis. Over the next 20 years, both JLo and Ben will have to make significant transformations to deal with challenging circumstances and situations beyond their control. Power struggles will affect their relationships as they are learning how to share, exchange or relinquish power to facilitate a healthy relationship dynamic.

• Pluto opposite Venus indicates emotionally possessive or intense relationships

Impulsive decisions that initiate and end relationships; relationships end as quickly as they begin. At this time Ben needs the freedom to think and do as he pleases, he cannot tolerate constraints on his time, energy and focus; he’s more impatient and less willing to compromise. This was not a good time to enter a relationship because the decision to get married was not practical, it was spontaneous and exciting, but ultimately the wrong person and or the wrong time.
