Oceangate Submarine Disaster Astrological Analysis: Was Richard Stockton Rush III Trying to Time Travel?

Introduction

Hello everyone, this is the mind of Lilith and thank you for joining me today for a brief astrological analysis of Richard Stockton Rush III’s natal chart. Stay tuned until the end because my reading takes an interesting twist that I did not anticipate at the outset. So let’s start from the beginning.

Richard Stock Rush III was born on March 31st, 1962 in San Francisco, California.

• Sun in exaltation at 10°37’ of Aries
• An afflicted Moon at 14°58’ of Aquarius conjunct Saturn at 9°21’ of Aquarius and the South Node at 15deg15’ of Aquarius
• Mercury is debilitated at 25°55’ of Pisces
• Venus debilitated at 26°08’ of Aries
• Mars at 15°17’ of Pisces trine Neptune at 12°56’ of Scorpio
• Jupiter in domicile at 1°16’ of Pisces opposite Uranus in Leo
• Uranus at 26°51’ of Leo opposing the Moon at 14°58’ of Aquarius
• Neptune at 12°56’ of Scorpio square the Moon, Saturn and the South Node
• Pluto at 8°04’ of Virgo
• North Node at 15°15’ of Leo
• Chiron at 8°30’ of Pisces conjunct Mars, Mercury and Chiron
• Although he has a fire sign sun, he has five placements in water signs, and his Sun sign ruler of Mars is in Pisces.

He was the founder and CEO of Oceangate, a deap-sea exploration company. On June 18, 2023 he, along with 4 other passengers died while on a voyage to the bottom of the ocean to visit the infamous ruins of the Titanic, which sank over a century ago. The cause of death was suffocation and or drowning, both significations of Saturn and Neptune which form a square aspect in his natal chart. The name of the submersible vehicle that imploded was the Titan.  In ancient mythology, the Titans were the forefathers of the Olympians, and in astrology they rule the outer planets of Saturn (Cronos – the God of time), Uranus (Ouranos – the god of innovation), Neptune (Poseidon – Lord of the invisible kingdom and the oceans, and Pluto (Hades- God of the underworld). At some point, Jupiter aka Zeus, God of the Olympians, defeated his father Cronos and the rest of the Titans, and I’ll discuss the implications of that victory at a later date. 

All of this is important to me because, upon first glance at Richard’s chart, I noticed a stellium of planets in Pisces including a very strong Jupiter in Pisces, it’s traditional ruler. His Neptune, the modern co-ruler of Pisces is also highly aspected squaring his moon and Saturn. Neptune and Jupiter planets can encourage escapist tendencies and passionate enthusiasm about the possibilities of expansion and exploration. Both Jupiter and Neptune represent idealism, and a lack of boundaries or restrictions. However, because Saturn is also a part of the Jupiter Neptune connection, there are challenges and difficult lessons that are learned when a person is too unrealistic, too idealistic, and doesn’t appreciate the laws of nature as they relate to man or science.

Last week I did a reading on Tupac Shakur, and Tupac has a Saturn/Neptune opposition that caused him to experience deep disillusionment after learning very painful lessons about being too trusting and generous to people who didn’t deserve it, which ultimately caused his death. And as I’ve stated repeatedly, when a person has Saturn forming an angular aspect to Neptune, their delusional bubble about their beliefs will burst at some point in their lives. At the time of Richard’s death, Saturn retrograde transit in Pisces is in conjunction with Richard’s natal Jupiter in Pisces…like Tupac, Richard had to learn a deadly lesson about being too idealistic and not following the rules. Last year, Richard said the following:

“You know, at some point, safety just is pure waste. I mean, if you just want to be safe, don’t get out of bed,” “Don’t get in your car. Don’t do anything. At some point, you’re going to take some risk, and it really is a risk-reward question. I think I can do this just as safely by breaking the rules.”

Is that Aries privilege, white privilege, or wealthy privilege, because for some of us, breaking the rules can lead to dangerous consequences that are very timely and or expensive to get out of, if you can get out of them at all.

In 2018 Oceangate was sued by a former employee who accused the company of cutting corners on safety to save money, and that lawsuit happened when Saturn in Capricorn was squaring Richard’s Sun; the universe was giving him a heads up about what was to come within the next 7 years if he wasn’t responsible, and practical. 

Sun’s Dispositor in Pisces 12th House

1. Richard’s Sun is exalted in Aries, and his sun sign ruler of Mars is in the sign of Pisces which represents dissolution, mystery, sacrifice, powerlessness, ego-death or the super-ego. With the Sun sign ruler in Pisces, Rush Stockton was interested in finding creative and ingenious ways of transforming himself. Sun in Aries people are industrious, combative, brave, inventive, competitive, adventurous, foolhardy and they are hardheaded like the Ram, meaning they are determined to do things their own way, and live life on their own terms. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however, Saturn still exists, so there are laws and rules that must be followed to maintain order, or else we’ll have a Uranian planet that’s full of chaos and instability which is not conducive to the cultivation of an ecosystem that supports a diverse ecology. Without Saturn’s (and the moon’s) energy providing a balance, earth would be a gaseous body raging with storms and inclement weather. Aries is a cardinal fire sign that inspires others by initiating and establishing new ways of being, thinking, and doing. Rush stated that: “ he didn’t want to hire 50-year-old white guys’ because they were NOT ‘inspirational’, which shows his personal battle with the energy of Saturn. Interestingly enough, he has Saturn (which represents the father) conjunct Moon which represents the mother in Aquarius, the sign of technology, transportation vehicles, and innovation.

Saturn conjunct the Moon: Emotional repression/depression

1. So let’s talk about Richard’s moon for a second. Richard’s Moon is in Aquarius, conjunct with a strong Saturn in Aquarius. The moon represents all of the water on the planet, it’s also our emotions, our family, the way we react to situations based on early conditioning, it also represents what we need to feel safe and nurtured. With Saturn conjunction the moon, there is an emotional, physical or psychological distance from the mother, the family or feelings. Feelings are denied, dismissed, or downplayed to keep the peace. Saturn rules restrictions, oppression, limitation, hard work, repetition and lessons, but Saturn also rules enclosed tight spaces, suffocation, darkness, coldness, prisons, graves, and dungeons. The moon rules all of the waters on the planet, and Neptune, which is squaring Saturn and the Moon rules the oceans. Aquarius rules transportation vehicles, technology, and innovation. Neptune also represents suffocation, drowning, suicide, and self-destructive escapism.
2. Saturn is an enemy to the moon and the conjunction aspect indicates emotional aloofness or disconnection from one’s feelings; especially with the Moon being in the air sign of Aquarius which is ruled by Saturn and Uranus. The conjunction of Saturn and the moon can represent a traditional mother who marries a man of her culture or social class. But Saturn conjunct the moon can indicate a marriage of convenience that is maintained because of tradition, culture or because the parents are members of a powerful organization or a network of people that married for status, money, and legacy not necessarily romantic love.  Richard’s parents were both well-connected so there’s a possibility that their interests were in alignment, they had strict rules regarding how to parent their children.
3. But with the moon in Aquarius, the relationship with the child is not conventional or traditional, there could have been a lack of nurturing from the parents, especially the mother. A lot of people assume that rich children have easy lives, and they usually don’t, rich kids attend the best schools and participate in extracurricular activities that take up a lot of their personal time and time with their family, as their parents often see them as extensions of their wealth and legacy. So well to do children often lack the freedom to enjoy leisure time, they are often raised with nannies or sent away to boarding schools with other wealthy children, which fosters an emotional disconnect that can be traumatizing to a sensitive child.
4. From what I’m seeing with the Saturn/Moon/South Node conjunction, Richard may have suffered from depression as a result of parental alienation and with the Neptune in Scorpio square aspect, he could have engaged in dangerous and/or risky behaviors to manage his emotions or escape feelings of loneliness or isolation.

Neptune in Scorpio: Crisis as a Means of Escaping Reality

1. Neptune represents the addictions, escapism, fantasy, dreams, and beliefs, but it also rules the oceans. Scorpio is about danger, transformation, risk taking, life and death situations, other people’s resources. With Neptune in Scorpio, Richard could have tried to self-medicate his deep seeded depression and feelings of worthlessness with dangerous and risky activity that disconnected him from a prison of emotional and psychological trauma that he may have experienced as a child.
2. With Richard’s moon and Saturn in conjunction, his parents may have been emotionally rigid, detached, and disinterested in the well-being of their child because they were more concerned about their own personal and professional interests; parental affection may have been performative, as the polarity point for Aquarius is Leo, the performer, the celebrity, the aristocrat. With Uranus opposite the moon, Richard’s relationship with his home and mother was unstable, untraditional and ungrounded. It doesn’t mean he was homeless, in this case it could mean that his family traveled a lot, or they had multiple homes in different parts of the world, I mean his family is rich so this is what they usually do. With Uranus opposite the moon and Saturn both his mother and father may have valued her freedom and independence over nurturing her own children but stayed married for the children and the family’s legacy.
3. On a deeper psychological level, and this is just little ol’ me speculating here, I would go so far as to say that for Richard, who has Neptune in Scorpio square Moon and Saturn, his submersible exemplified the small and a tight womb of his mother, the journey to the bottom of the ocean was his way of returning to the ethers of deep space, risking death to experience the ego-death process and being resurrected like the Scorpio, especially because he was visiting the grave of the Titanic. I would go further and say that with the SN aspecting the moon, Saturn and Neptune, and Uranus conjunction the north he was subconsciously attempting to time travel, but not physically, psychologically and spiritually. So these deep sea voyages may have been cathartic for him, regardless of how dangerous they were, in fact the more dangerous the better. 
4. Mars in Pisces individuals can become self-destructive because they have an intense desire to experience the death of the ego, which is usually facilitated by crises and danger and then you add the Neptune in trine aspect to Mars, there is a sacrificial element here, like a kamikaze mission. Now, I’m about to say something real crazy, but as I’m writing this I’m getting the sense that the passengers of the Titan were sacrificed to the spirits of the Titanic; I don’t think Rush did this consciously, but his obsession with this particular historical event that happened before he was born coupled with the fact that he wife is a descendant of two of the wealthiest people to die in the titanic, is making my spidey senses tingle.

Conclusion

1. I think this tragedy which has brought about international attention was not a coincidence, I think the spirits of the Titanic absorbed the energy of Richard and his passengers who were all rich and this was done to maintain power for the elite families who are still ruling the world today and who are desperate to maintain power as Pluto shifts into Aquarius for the next 20 years; the connection would explain how the Simpsons TV show was able to predict this event years before it happened. Let me say this more succinctly, this tragedy was not happenstance or a coincidence, there are powerful occultists behind this, especially with Pisces and Scorpio energy involved.
2. Yes earlier I talked about safety measures not being followed, and Mr. Rush being a daredevil and having emotional issues, and honestly this is not how I expected this analysis to transition, but here we are. Initially I was curious about why this was such a big deal, then I got irritated by the memes which were funny but inappropriate, but as I’m doing this reading, I’m also channeling, which may be easier for me to do in this particular instance since there’s a Neptune/Mercury conjunction between myself and Mr. Rush’s chart. Hold on, I also remember reading on Wikipedia that Richard Stockton descends from two men who signed the declaration of independence, which to me indicates that his family are not only freemasons, but they are heavily into the occult, and I can say that with absolute certainty, even though I’ve never heard or read that anywhere. This event happened right before the Summer Solstice on the day of Saturn Retrograde into Pisces, indicating a connection to the past or past life.

So! After I wrote this chart analysis on June 24 2023, I stumbled on a REALLY COOL Reddit article that reveals Stockton’s interesting family history!
